The rise and rise of Xperia.

Since Sony Ericsson released their first Android handset, the X10, there has been quite a turnaround in how they deal with the platform, and everything is for the better.
The X10 was a good phone, decent specs, and style, huge screen. But it was let down by slow updates and over complex software integration.
Then came 2011 and a new way of thinking. First we got the arc, incredibly slim, stunning to look at and running the latest Android platform right out of the box. Suddenly SE were ahead of the game, the change is software was astounding. Designed to allow quicker updates, as shown by the new features added since launch, it has allowed Xperia to move to the front of the Android race.
As well as the new strategy for updates, there have been changes behind the scenes, offering handset and code support to the FreeXperia team has been a fantastic move, one that is getting the real tech community behind the brand, but also, I would guess, giving Sony Ericsson some insight into what people want their phones to do, and how creative they can be at creating new software.
Possibly the best thing about all this, is that it hasn't come at a price, or at the expense of something else. These new devices, with Sony Exmor-R cameras, BRAVIA powered screens, leading edge software and gorgeous designs, are priced very modestly.
My arc has been with me since launch, taken thousands of videos, hours of HD video, been my navigation on holidays, entertained me daily, let me catch up on the news, twitter, Facebook, YouTube, forums and websites, while also being a phone. Its never skipped a beat. I can only guess at what awaits us in 2012, but its going to be special!
